The City Wall - Hardenberg

N 52.575111692005 / E 6.6163493277442

Presumably, this wall was built around 1230 to protect the town. However, Hardenberg did not have city rights then.

Remarkably, the wall was discovered during a conversion of the post office in 1959. Hardenberg actually used to be higher than it is today, so the low wall is an unusual discovery. In 1518, the town expanded slightly and that is probably when the wall disappeared under the sand.
