Housed in the former orangery of Westhove Castle, you will find Museum Terra Maris, the museum for nature and landscape in Zeeland. The road to the museum already leads through the beautiful nature reserve De Manteling van Walcheren. Inside the museum you'll learn about the long history of Zeeland's landscape and the rich variety of its wildlife. Take a look at the collections of stuffed birds, fish and (marine) mammals, shells and fossilised mammal bones that have been fished up from the delta waters. You'll learn about the land reclamations and the more than one hundred villages that disappeared from the map by the sea over the centuries. As an extra surprise, the museum has a beautiful landscape garden of 2.5 hectares!
Terra Maris organizes all kinds of activities and changing exhibitions throughout the year. The children are thought of as well: with image and sound, climbing equipment and the possibility to catch water animals in the ponds with a scoop net, it is a lively outing for young and old!
