In 1789, this iconic teahouse at buitenplaats De Rijp was built by Lambert Rouwens. It was designed by French architect Michel Mouchel. The buitenplaats was founded near a 17th-century farmhouse. In 1882, the buildings were sold. A villa park was developed and a modern retirement centre. Today, only the teahouse and the, thatched, icehouse remain.
The tea dome is used as a meeting room.
