Another special museum in Rotterdam. Truly a surprising voyage of discovery through the history of taxes and customs. The very first Budget Day suitcase of then finance minister Lieftinck is on display. But you can also see a statue of an Indian official in sarong with a jacket, symbolising the "taxed colonial past" and the culture system in the Dutch East Indies between 1830 and 1870.
Marvel at the objects confiscated by customs with their often exciting story and the collection of art inspired by taxation. A unique museum with a varied collection that you will gladly get off your bike for.
