Stützpunkt Nettelbeck 1 - Vlissingen
Vlissingen harbour played a strategically important role during World War II. For this reason, a bunker was built to protect the area from the Allies. Located at a higher point than many other bunkers, this bunker never suffered from water penetration and is therefore exceptionally well preserved. On the outside, traces of heavy fighting are clearly visible, including several bullet impacts. The bunker was part of Festung Walcheren.
The Festung Walcheren Foundation is restoring this historic site to its original state to inform future generations about the events of World War II.
