Statue of Toon Hermans - Sittard
In front of the door of Museum De Domijnen, location Heritage Centre, on the Kapittelstraat in Sittard, stands a larger-than-life statue of conferencer, artist and poet Toon Hermans. The bronze statue was created by sculptor, draughtsman and painter Loek Bos (The Hague 1946) and commissioned by the municipality of Sittard.
Dating from 2003, the statue originally stood near Sittard's Stadsschouwburg, but has now found its place in front of the museum. The museum regularly hosts exhibitions featuring Toon Hermans, but the famous Sittard artist is not a regular feature at the museum. Also, to date, there is no museum in Sittard dedicated to the beloved comedian.
