Statue ‘Europe and the bull’ - Dinxperlo

N 51.861984225507 / E 6.4993400387672

Three bronze statues have been placed in Dinxperlo and Suderwick, recalling the rich smuggling history in this border area. Created in 1996 by Bocholt artist Jürgen Ebert, these sculptures humorously depict the cat-and-mouse game between smugglers and customs officers (commissaires).

This sculpture, placed in Suderwick, depicts the mythological figure Europa sitting on a bull. It symbolises the connection between different European cultures and historical interactions across borders.
