The Liège-Guillemins station is one of the busiest stations in Wallonia and was designed by Catalan architect Santiago Calatrava. The station is 40 metres high and, with its two canopies, 150 metres wide. The construction of the station took more than ten years. Its white colour and shapes are a clear reference to the style of the Spanish architect.

The station with modern architecture still bears its original name Guillemins. This name refers to a religious order, the 'guillemites' (wilhelmites), who were based in this district in the Middle Ages.
