In 1843, the current Belgian-Dutch border was described in detail and officially established. A total of 388 cast-iron border posts marked the border. On one side of the pole is depicted the Belgian Lion, on the other side is the Dutch Lion with sword and arrows. Each pole is numbered, from number 1 at the Drielandenpunt in Vaals (Limburg), to number 369 in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen.
