Sint-Martinus church Weert - Weert
The Sint-Martinus church in Weert has been declared one of the most beautiful monuments in the province of Limburg and is a Top-100 monument. It is among the hundred ecclesiastical monuments in the Netherlands.
The church is so popular because of its striking architecture. The dark and light stripes in the tower immediately catch the eye. Inside too, the architecture is a feast for the eyes. High pillars culminate in a beautiful vaulted ceiling with paintings. Inside, there are also many art treasures to admire, such as the many statues surrounding the richly decorated altars and the stained-glass windows.
On Open Tower Days, you can climb the church tower to enjoy stunning views from the top. The staircase has 221 steps, including 131 bluestone, 55 wooden and 35 cast iron.
