"Life is fine - drink Sint Crispijn" sounds the motto of this city brewery in Waalwijk. And so it is: Sint Crispijn knows how to link joie de vivre directly to their craft beer. There are eight beers in the bottle and another 10 on tap, all brewed according to their own recipe. You can taste the passion!
The brewery is named after Saint Crispijn, the patron saint of shoemakers and tanners. This 3rd-century saint fled to Gaul with his brother because they were persecuted as Christians. There, he made shoes for the poor and preached Christianity until he was captured and beheaded by the Romans. Waalwijk used to have a rich shoe industry. Until the mid-20th century, this little town was the centre of the Dutch shoe and leather industry. So Sint Crispijn and Waalwijk are linked.
Visit the brewery, located in a historic grain warehouse on Winterdijk, for a guided tour and see the brewing process. You will immediately get an answer to the question why not all beer is golden yellow. Of course, afterwards you can enjoy and taste the different flavours.
