Side ferry - Warmond
The Zijlpont is a ferry with skipper J. Taghavi at the helm, for pedestrians and cyclists, which travels back and forth across the river Zijl. This is a very short river between the Kagerplassen and the Oude Rijn. It connects the Zijldijk along the Boterhuispolder in Warmond with Leiden's Merenwijk or Kagerszoom. An ideal connection if you make a round trip around the Kagerplassen or a longer cycle route around Leiden.
Please note that the ferry only operates from March to October. If you cycle outside the sailing season, take the bridge over the Zijl (Willem de Zwijgerlaan) at junction 44 and cycle towards junction 1 in Leiden Merenwijk. There you pick up the route again. Or vice versa, if you cycle the route in the other direction.
