The ‘Scottish Monument’ is located in Best and commemorates the 15th Scottish Division that played a crucial role in liberating the region during the Second World War. 120 Scots lost their lives during the seven days it took to liberate Best.

The monument consists of a statue of three soldiers jumping through a Scottish window, designed by Antoinette Briët. On the base, the text commemorates the courage and dedication of these Scottish soldiers.

The Scottish Monument serves as a lasting reminder of the international cooperation and the sacrifices that were made to restore freedom and peace in the Netherlands. It strengthens the bond between the local community and the Scottish liberators.
