At the cherry orchard of Hoeve de Hond, operating under the name Schouwse Kers, the tastiest cherries are grown with a lot of love and attention. At their own roadside sales stall and vending machine you can - in season - get a bowl of sweet, juicy cherries.
Different varieties are grown in the orchard. One variety is ripe in June, the other not until August. This way, cherries can be sold daily to lovers throughout the season.
The Zeeland clay is the ideal soil for the cherry trees. The many hours of sunshine also allow Zeeland cherries to develop their delicious sweet flavour to the full. The picking is delayed as long as possible so that you can enjoy the best cherry.
Besides the cherries themselves, you can also buy cherry juice, cherry jam, potatoes, onions, eggs and plums (late July to late August) at the sales stalls.
Curious to see what it's like in the orchard? You can book a guided tour in spring during blossom time and during harvest months (possible from 5 people upwards). See the website for more information.
