The Schoorl Dunes are the highest dunes in the Netherlands! A special area, which has grown from a large sandpit within a century into a beautiful, mixed area of beach, dunes, woods and heathland. The influence of the salt seawater allows unusual plants to grow, such as glasswort, sea kelp and salt marsh grass.
This variety of vegetation is not only pleasing to the eye, it is also important for nature. Numerous animal species, such as birds and dune lizards, know how to make their home in the Schoorl dunes.
Find out more about the Schoorl Dunes, what is so special about the area and what other plants and animals live there. From here, you can stroll for kilometres on beautiful footpaths through the dunes, or choose one of the many activities organised in and around the outdoor centre.
In the outdoor centre you will find a shop with outdoor equipment, souvenirs, nature books, gift items and regional products.
