Schans Frieschepalen - Frieschepalen
On the border of Groningen and Friesland stands a star-shaped work of art with an information board. The entrenchment was part of the Frisian Water Line, which started at the Zuiderzee and ended here in Frieschepalen. It was meant to be defended from the entrenchment, but when needed, there was no one to stop the Spaniards. The Spaniards even lived there for a while in the 16th century.
In 2014, the entrenchment was rebuilt; the artwork by Design Studio Lamme is a scale replica of the original entrenchment.
