The St. Radboud church was built in the 12th century. The tower was rebuilt in 1954 after the collapse on Saturday, Aug. 25, 1951. Geert Mak described this disaster in his book, "How God Disappeared from Jorwerd." More than 50 years later, the tower was restored once again. The church has been part of the Nijkleaster foundation, a new monastery, since 2012.
