The horse mill was leased at the same time as the Tower mill and was used by the miller when there was not enough wind to power the grinding. The farmer’s horse was yoked to the stones so that grinding could still take place. In 1866 the mill was sold and demolished as a horse mill and then rebuilt in 1974. In high season, the horse mill installation is driven by a real horse, just as it was centuries ago.
