Paul de Groot (Haarlem 1987) always had a passion for the creative. After studying Management, Economics & Law, he ended up in a full-time office job, until he no longer liked it and started his own business. Artbypdeg became his business and he created both free works and commissioned works.
For Artbypdeg, he makes paintings and murals and runs workshops for children. Paul works as much as possible with the spray can, because you can get so many different techniques from it, and calls himself an ‘art maker’. His works are always cheerfully coloured and very often feature animals, he has a fondness for birds.
On the corner of Smedestraat with Noorder Schoolsteeg in Haarlem in 2019, the artmaker created the colourful graffiti-style mural ‘Pretty Bird’ featuring four Brazilian birds: a parrot, a toucan, a kingfisher and a hummingbird.
In corona time, Paul designed a funny shark with a boat on its head. He printed cards of it that you could send to people you could temporarily not see. You can find the shark on a wall at Jan Gijzenkade 305 with the text ‘Put the Art back in Fart’.
