The Paulushoef is a farm in Son that played an important role during Operation Market Garden on 17 September 1944. On that day, thousands of paratroopers and hundreds of gliders landed in the area to begin the liberation of the Netherlands. The farm was easily recognisable from the air by the name ‘Paulushoef’ in large white letters on the roof. This made it an important landmark for the allied troops.
After the liberation, the residents of Paulushoef, the Van Overveld family, set up a small museum with materials left behind by the American soldiers. Around the museum you will also find a number of monuments and memorial altars.
This museum offers a unique look at the events of that time and reminds visitors of the courage and sacrifice of the allied troops.
