After the bombing of Rotterdam in 1940, the German occupiers used the debris as building material for an ammunition depot in the woods of Oisterwijk. To enable freight transport, the forest paths were paved with rubble from Rotterdam. The stones are still there and now form a footpath around the Goorven, marked with information pillars to commemorate the events of the war for future generations.
