On the edge of Amersfoort-North lies estate Park Schothorst. A park with an important function for the surrounding area. Large green fields where local residents play and practice sports. A forest where you can take a lovely walk and escape from the city. A real gnome walk of 1.5 km has been set out in the woods, starting at the front door of The Green House. In the green box you will find a description of the route with assignments. Can you find the gnomes?
Het Groene Huis is also home to the Centre for Nature and Environmental Education (CNME). It organises all kinds of activities related to nature and sustainability. There are exhibitions, courses and there is the Green Café. But don't forget to check out the Bee House, the Observatory and the early medieval farm. At the latter, from May to September, a hostess in medieval clothing is present on Sundays between 13:00 and 16:30 to answer all your questions. Sometimes she is accompanied by Vikings demonstrating crafts of the time. For special activities, check out The Green House website.
If the weather is really nice, don't miss the nature playground. Here you can climb, scramble, build huts, dig trenches and splash around with water at the water pump from sunrise to sunset. A delight for any child who can get dirty.
