Amidst Noordeinde Palace, the Royal Stables and the Royal Archives in The Hague, you'll find the Palace Garden. With lawns full of flowers, ponds and centuries-old trees, the garden offers a beautiful oasis of tranquillity in the heart of the city.
The Palace Garden was commissioned by Frederik Hendrik, son of William of Orange, at the beginning of the 17th century. He dedicated the park to his mother, Louise de Coligny. Originally, therefore, the garden was called the 'Princess Garden' and looked very different from today. In the 19th century, the garden was redesigned in English landscape style.
In the palace garden, there is a labyrinth where you can overlook the back of the palace. Or settle down in the grass for a picnic.
The park is open from sunrise to sunset. In summer, yoga classes are held on Sunday mornings.
