The idea for an observatory on the Veluwe originated with Piet Koning and his childhood friend Hans Luidens in 1965. In 1973, the Note to prepare the establishment of Sterrenwacht Bussloo was drawn up and on 18 November 1975, the official opening took place during the total lunar eclipse that evening.
Today, several activities are possible for the public. Every Friday evening at 20:00 there is a presentation with a theme on a current topic from space, weather or astronomy that ends with a look through the telescope. But you can also take a course there. For all activities, see the website of the Observatory.
