Norgerholt is one of the oldest forests in the Netherlands and is located just outside the village of Norg in the municipality of Noordenveld. This special forest is a living monument of historical and ecological value. It is characterised by ancient oaks and beeches, some of which are more than three hundred years old. The forest probably originated in the Middle Ages and has always played an important role in the local community, both as a source of wood and for herding cattle.

The small-scale landscape with its winding paths, wooded banks and clearings makes it a diverse nature reserve, making it a real treasure trove of biodiversity. The forest is home to rare plants such as wood anemones, bird's milkweed and wild hyacinths. Animals also find a safe home here; from woodpeckers and bats to countless insects that thrive in the rotting wood residues. The forest also has an important role in nature conservation, as it is a unique piece of old forest that is rare in the Netherlands.

Norgerholt is freely accessible and perfect to explore on foot, allowing visitors to catch a glimpse of the rich history and natural beauty that make this forest unique.
