The Noordeveldse Molen was originally called De Nieuwe Molen. The imposing mill owed this name to the fact that the implement was built in 1795 near another seesaw mill, named Oude Molen. The Old Mill disappeared, however, the New Mill remained.
The pumping station and mill operated the Noordenveld polder until 1964. Two years before that, the De Alm water board transferred the mill to mill foundation the Land of Heusden and Altena. In 1969, the mill, which by now had been renamed Noordeveld Mill, was extensively restored. In March 1992, the mill largely burned down, presumably by arson. In 1998, it rose from its ashes and again, with its spinning outside paddle wheel, shows why many call it the largest and most beautiful seesaw mill in the Land of Heusden and Altena.
Stop by via the various nearby junctions to admire the Noordeveld Mill.
