Museum De Tuut is named after the Tuut, the road on which the museum is located. De Tuut derives from tuyt, the name of the area behind it that possibly refers to the shape of the water on which the steam pumping station is located, a pointed pocket or tuyt. By the way, the official name of the steam pumping station is Stoomgemaal Appeltern. In the Motorenmuseum, you will find a collection of stationary engines, machines used to drive implements such as pumps, bellows to gliding mills.
