Get to know the history, culture and traditions of Staphorst and the surrounding region at Museum Staphorst – right in the heart of the village.
Why was Staphorst built in a ribbon-like shape? What customs shaped life here? And what does the traditional clothing – still worn by many residents – actually look like? You’ll find the answers to all of this and more in this local museum.
The museum is set in a traditional Staphorst farmhouse, lovingly preserved in its original condition. Inside, you’ll explore regional dress, jewellery and folk art. It’s also a great outing for kids: from classic Dutch games and an educational treasure hunt to the Speulhuus, where they can dress up in traditional outfits, there’s plenty to experience for young and old alike.
