There are eight mills on the right side of the water of the Nederwaard: Nederwaard no. 1 to Nederwaard no. 8. Mill no. 2 is set up as a museum mill. With an entrance ticket, you can visit the museum mill from the inside.
A characteristic footbridge takes you to Museum mill Nederwaard. Once inside, time seems to have stood still. The last resident left the mill in the 1950s. Nothing has changed to the interior since then. You can see the old-fashioned living room with bedstead, in which the residents slept. The mill itself dates from the 18th century and was instrumental in draining the Alblasserwaard polders.
Several films show you how the mill works and what it is like to live as a miller. Stairs take you to the three upper floors, called the attic, where you can see the mechanical part of the mill. From the top point you also have a great view over the fantastic polder area with all the mills of Kinderdijk.
