The Museum Hofje van Mevrouw van Aerden stands majestically on the River Linge and defines the face of Leerdam. The hofje was built in 1770 according to the wishes of the widow of Pieter van Aerden, who died in 1764.
The style of the hofje is an exceptional mix of 18th century Dutch thoroughness and French elegance with a touch of Rococo.
When visiting the museum, you can admire the beautiful inner and outer gardens. Don't forget to take a look at the special collection of paintings by 17th century Dutch masters in the Regentenkamer.
