Museum De Waag is an important building in the history of Deventer. It was built with the stones from two fortresses of the Duke of Gelre across the river IJssel. There used to be gates on both sides of the building.
Before traders could go to the annual market, goods were weighed in the scales. It is therefore very appropriate that a historical museum is located here. Now you can still see the city's old treasures here in this special monument.
