Mural by RoosArt - Culemborg
As part of the 2022 LekArt art route, RoosArt created this beautiful mural. In one week, she managed to spray paint this artwork on the wall.
The theme of LekArt 2022 was River Deep. With its location on the river Lek, there are all kinds of possibilities in Culemborg. RoosArt talked to residents and students in the town and delved into the history of the region.
The artwork is a modern interpretation of "the Waterline", a historical event in which the town defended itself against French invasion in 1795 by flooding the land. The mural celebrates the inventiveness and resilience of the Culemborgers, whose clever use of water enabled them to resist the French troops until the freezing of the water drastically changed the situation. It is a tribute to the city, its history and its unbreakable bond with water.
