There is much to see on this beautiful square in Roermond. Prominent among them, of course, is the Munsterkerk. Restoring this thirteenth-century church was the first major commission of architect Pierre Cuypers (1827-1921). You will also find a bandstand by his hand and a bronze statue of Pierre himself.
But there is more; a beautiful garden, several works of art, cosy terraces and a commemorative fountain. The latter was offered by the men of Roermand to the women of Roermond, to honour them for their courageous behaviour in World War II when 3,000 Roermond men had been deported to labour camps by the Germans.
