Monument Bulletholes Appelweg - Amersfoort

N 52.1493954 / E 5.378463

In the middle of this residential area in Amersfoort, you will find the hidden monument from the Second World War. On this spot, ten resistance fighters were executed by the German occupiers on 20 March 1945. You can still see the bullet marks in the wall along Appelweg.

The reason for this event was the murder of the 'bad' policeman Diederik Lutke Schipholt on 14 March 1945 in Amersfoort. He had been killed by the Resistance. The ten men were arrested after an arms drop near Ede and taken to Camp Amersfoort.
