There was already a mill on this site in 1832. The octagon of this mill was originally covered with reeds and was equipped with an outside scoop wheel. Even before the war, an engine was installed in the mill, for which the tower posts were extended. This gave the substructure the appearance of a pure octagonal cone. Thanks to personal intervention by some Frisian mill enthusiasts, the silent disappearance of this lower tower in 1994 could be prevented at the very last moment: the demolition had already been arranged.
In 2003, the mill was transferred to the Molenstichting Nijefurd, which had the remnant restored in 2008. The attachment of the former scoop wheel is still present in the mill as a memento of the vanished outer scoop wheel.
