Gerrit Witteveen had the mill built in 1858. In the vernacular, the mill was known as Enkmolle. In the beginning, the mill served the neighbouring farmers by grinding rye, wheat, oats and buckwheat. At the beginning of the 20th century, the mill was fitted with an engine that ran on crude oil in order to supply the surrounding bakeries even when there was no wind. As a result of the windmill being taken out of operation and lack of maintenance, the mill gradually fell into disrepair. In 1982, in order to ensure its continued existence, it was transferred to its current owner, the Stichting Behoud Korenmolen Werklust in Oene, for the symbolic sum of one guilder. At present, grain for cattle feed is milled there.
