The predecessor of this mill, a ground-sailer, built in 1877, burned down under suspicious circumstances. The present mill was built in 1896 During World War II, a wooden rod broke, after which people continued grinding with the remaining rod. After the war, the mill was shut down and decay set in. In 1976, it was recommended that the mill be demolished and rebuilt elsewhere. However, this did not go ahead and after a major restoration that began in 1977, the mill was festively reopened, during which the name Heidebloem was also unveiled. The mill is also used as an instructional mill for trainee millers.
It can also be visited by appointment.
