Mill De Vriendschap (The Friendship) is in the middle of Veenendaal and has an eventful history. This octagonal post windmill was built in 1872 within the built-up area of the village. The windmill therefore had to rise above the roofs of the houses, otherwise it would not be high enough to catch enough wind. In order to be able to operate the high mill, a scaffold was built. That is why this is a tower mill: the sails are only accessible to the miller via a scaffold. The mill contains a grinding floor and a stone floor. Both these attics have their own specific function and house essential parts.
Molenschap De Vriendschap is committed to contemporary education and information, for example with various history lessons or practical lessons in the subjects of technology, retail and catering. There is also plenty for children to do!
