The current mill replaced a corn mill built in 1724 in 1849. At first, the mill bore the name De Hoop. Due to the upcoming mechanisation of milling and the economic crisis in the 1930s, the owner no longer saw any further use for wind milling and therefore sold the mill's contents incl. millstones, sails and upper axle in 1936. A year later, a neighbour bought the stone mill hull with associated land. As a result, the fate of the mill hung by a thread for 20 years.
In 1957, the mill hull and cap were listed and in 1967 the municipality of Wisch purchased the mill remains to enable future restoration. In 1975, the restoration plan and finances were finalised, allowing millwright Beckers from Bredevoort to start work. On Saturday 22 May 1976, the mill was festively reopened as a milling machine.
