Overpelt is known for its six mills. The Mill Museum is located next to the impressive Sevensmolen. This museum cherishes the heritage of mills and offers an insight into the complete grain processing, from raw grain to bread, including the technologies that were used to drive millstones. Notable exhibits include diesel engines from the 1930s, a reconstructed dog-tooth mill and a working steam engine. In addition, the museum houses an extensive collection of measuring and weighing equipment on the first floor.
However, the Mill Museum is more than just a collection of mills and technical artefacts; it offers a fascinating overview of the whole process "from grain to bread" through the centuries, from separating chaff and wheat to milling, baking and the traditional baker's shop of yesteryear. A visit to this museum is an intriguing journey through the history of food production and technological development.
