The Young Sheep is a sawmill dating from 1680. The mill operation was used to saw wood. With the advent of steam sawmills, The Young Sheep became redundant in 1935. A rescue plan for the mill unfortunately failed due to the outbreak of World War II. After the Schaep family's mill was fully surveyed and drawn in the late 1930s, it was demolished. Fortunately, those details were preserved and the mill could be meticulously rebuilt at a later stage.
The Schaep family owned several mills. Of these, the original Young Sheep was the latest addition. They were active in the then new industry of wood sawing and had previously owned sawmills called The White and Black Sheep, respectively. The rebuilt Young Sheep was recommissioned in 2007.
