Mill de Wachter - Zuidlaren
The mill was built in 1851 on its current location. The mill received two steam installations in 1898; one generates electricity for the oil mill, the other drives the spice mill. To grind the grain, the mill remains dependent on the wind. Around 1930, the oil mill and the spice mill were closed, and many parts of the mill were demolished. In 1950, the miller also decided to shut down the corn mill. The definitive end for De Wachter then seemed near. In the years 1968, 1969 and 1970 the windmill was restored. From 1987 the restoration of the rest of the complex was well underway. Stichting Koren- en Oliemolen De Wachter, which expanded the compound even further, is the new owner.
