De Roode Leeuw (The Red Lion) is one of the oldest corn mills in our country and thus an important national monument. As early as the 17th century (perhaps even earlier), Gouda had a mill on this site, at the time a wooden seesaw mill. In 1727, this round stone tower mill was built. Since then, De Roode Leeuw has stood proudly on the banks of the Vest in the city centre. A statue of a red lion stands in front of the mill.
Grain is milled in the mill in a traditional and professional way. You can buy the flour in the mill shop.
Due to restoration work, the mill is temporarily not open for visits.
