In the 1620s to 1630s, a wooden corn mill had already been built at the site, parts of which were reused in the current mill. In 1961, the Vermaas family sold the now dilapidated mill to A. Lokker. This was followed by other owners who obtained demolition permits for the mill. In 1967, the nearly demolished mill was taken over by the then Stichting tot behoud van de Flakkeese Molens.
Between 1969 and 1971, the mill was restored. Since then, the mill has been in use for grinding grain on a voluntary basis. The mill also received its current name at that time. After transfer in 1974, the municipality of Oostflakkee became the owner, since 1988 the mill has been owned by the Molenstichting Goeree-Overflakkee.
