The station, built in 1913, is a so-called fork station: two railroad lines diverge near Schin op Geul as a V-shape. The station was built along the Maastricht-Kerkrade railroad line, as well as that of Voerendaal-Klimmen-Ransdaal-Maastricht. In the former waiting room, the original wooden benches and paneling for the 1st class can still be seen.
There is a ticket machine, bicycle storage and parking lot at the station. The building itself is a national monument, where you can go for a snack and a drink.
From Schin op Geul you can board the Miljoenenlijn steam train in the direction of Valkenburg or towards the German border via Wijlre-Gulpen, Eys-Wittem, Simpelveld and Kerkrade.
