The Maria Church in Bears was built in the 13th century and is made of red and yellow bricks. Next to the church used to be the Uniastate, a beautiful house which was demolished in 1756. After the demolition of the state, artist Beb Mulder made a reflection of the contours of the state. Perhaps that is why the sober-looking church is so popular with wedding couples. By the way, the austerity of the church is only apparent: the interior is richly executed.
