Maarsseveen Lakes - Maarssen
The Maarsseveen Lakes is a recreational area just above the city of Utrecht. The area consists of a number of artificial lakes, which were originally dug for sand extraction. Nowadays, the Maarsseveense Plassen are a popular destination for recreation and relaxation.
You can enjoy the sandy beaches, sunbathing meadows, playgrounds and picnic areas here. The water of the lakes is suitable for swimming and there are demarcated swimming areas to ensure safety. There are also opportunities for water sports activities, such as sailing, windsurfing and canoeing.
Around the Maarsseveen Lakes you will also find a campsite, several catering establishments and plenty of parking space.
