The Lonnekerberg in Twente is a hill of 60 meters high and is part of the lateral moraine complex Oldenzaal-Enschede. This land ridge was created because land ice pushed material up millions of years ago.The nature reserve of the Lonnekerberg is known for the different types of bats that can be found there. During the latest research in 2015, no fewer than eleven species of these mysterious flying critters were found. In addition to bats, you will also come across special mushrooms and plants in this area. Ideal for an invigorating bike ride or walk.
