Lemelerberg was formed thousands of years ago by glacial activity during the Saalien. It is a prominent hill 78 metres high in a pristine nature reserve of about 1,000 hectares. The dry land, which was never suitable for agriculture, has allowed nature to flourish here. This area has a rich mix of heathland, sandy plains and forests, creating a diverse flora and fauna.
The heathland is home to heather and heathland, while the forests consist mainly of Scots pine, oak and birch. This variety attracts various animal species, such as roe deer, badgers, nightjar and woodlarks.
Lemelerberg offers extensive hiking trails that lead visitors past breathtaking views and quiet nature, perfect for those who want to escape the daily hustle and bustle and enjoy the silence and beauty of the landscape
