The Kwintelooijen nature reserve is part of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The entire area covers some 68 hectares, of which 36 are reserved for nature and 32 hectares are designated for recreation. You can go hiking, mountain biking and there is a motocross track. You will also find the 'Geological Monument'; an original relief of raised ground. This hill is a great place for children to roll around and climb.
Kwintelooijen is a special piece of nature, where you will see a lot of variety in the landscape. Deciduous forest, coniferous forest, heath and grassland, but also flowery fields and marshland. The attention given to this area has ensured that no less than 1555 different species of insects and plants have been found, of which more than 70 species are on the Red List.
Get off your bike here for a walk to the viewpoint. From here you have a beautiful view over the historic forest.
At Kwintelooijen there is a large free parking area, ideal for starting the cycle route.
